Weekly Newsletter

Real-life lessons for thriving in Software Engineering

Technical Leadership, and Technical Growth. All with a bit of optimism. Learn from my failures, not just another success story.

Who Are You?

A good person, and a programmer. Both are not exclusive.

This newsletter is not another success story. There are many newsletters already, people on LinkedIn, podcasts, and so on, telling magical sentences about great successes and amazing achievements.

Here you will learn from my failures, which is in my opinion the best way to learn.

If you are interested in improving on:

  • Software Engineering & Development
  • Growing in the technical ladder
  • Software Architecture
  • Leadership from the technical path

This newsletter is something you cannot miss.

Not speaking from the sidelines.

I'm still in the game—not tired, and speaking from the trenches of real-world software development.

Who Am I?

I’m a human being, not an AI.

I think nowadays this is something important to remark on.

From Asturias, a small region in the north of Spain.

Hello, I’m Marcos. Nowadays, I’m working as a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead for a product company.

Before that, I had the amazing opportunity to work as a Software Engineer at CERN in the IT CLOUD group, managing services on OpenStack to deliver value to the scientists, and doing my bit exploring the origin of the Universe.

I started working at very small dot-com companies, moving on to medium-sized ones until I joined CERN—an inflection point in my life and career. From there, I moved to a start-up, where we grew from 150 to over 800 people, becoming a unicorn, and where I’m still growing and making an impact.

From time to time, I’m able to convince conference organizers to let me share my knowledge with people, like in the Codemotion Madrid or DevOpsDays Madrid.
